The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.

Confessions of a NZ Travel Writer

Full steam ahead: TSS Earnslaw
Based in Dunedin, I have finally found nirvana - the lifestyle of a professional NZ travel writer, where I get paid to create. Writing pieces that inspire people to travel around New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific is what keeps me going.
In 2010, as the in-house writer for the Glacier Country Tourism Group I honed my writing skills and completed a Diploma in Travel Writing and Photography with the NZ Institute of Business Studies. I enjoyed the challenge of writing and producing the ‘Bi-weekly i-Site Updates’ and copy for the Glacier Country website.
Writing website copy for tourism operators has become a passion. Threading keywords into a written tapestry that tells the unique story of each business is another challenge that I really enjoy.
As a copywriter, I have collaborated with Tomahawk, Immersion Marketing Management and Adventure Media Group. As well as completing a number of blog projects for tourism operators including A J Hackett Ltd and Rental Cars New Zealand.
In collaboration with Petr Hlavacek of NZICESCAPES, the 'Kiwi Diary' accepted an article for their 2012 edition, and I have written a number of pieces for local newspapers and magazines, including the Christchurch Press Escape and Mainland sections, Wilderness Magazine, Heritage Matters, and Good Magazine. My latest feature article was published in May 2012 - Sensing Hong Kong - Travelling Blind - NZ Herald.
